Collaborative based learning

We all grew up in a multilingual society. Everything that we do is for our good and the rest. It helps us understand one another better and also helps us grow together. What if this togetherness becomes a method of learning?

What is collaborative based learning

Collaborative-based learning is a method of learning where there’s joint involvement of students or teachers. Students are encouraged to work together in a group on a particular topic. It brings a group of people to solve problems or do tasks together.

This approach engages learners to process information and concepts, rather than using rote memorization of content. This can be done by patient listening, reframing ideas, and presenting them as one.

Benefits of collaborative based learning

  1. Develops leadership skills

To develop leadership skills one must work in a group environment. When an individual works with a bunch of people on a common goal, it develops a sense of understanding with one another. While having to organize, assign, and teach, they are learning how to manage both themselves and others while leading productively.

    2. Increases knowledge

An individual is not aware of everything. It requires people to expand their knowledge. Learning from one another helps increase one’s knowledge by observing and discussing. It will strengthen existing skills in teaching others, it will help learn new skills from other employees. This reduces formal training by encouraging everyone to continually upskill in known concepts.

  3. Builds relationship

It takes one person to know another. Collaborative-based learning helps build relationships with one another who are working toward the same goal. It helps us understand one another and find ways to work together. This method can be beneficial for organizations that depend on remote workers. It not only builds internal relationships but also outside the team.

4. Develops public speaking skills

It’s not easy to develop public speaking skills. It takes courage to speak to the unknown or in front of a huge crowd. Collaborative-based learning helps increase social public speaking skills through work. It boosts confidence while presenting thoughts.

Drawbacks of collaborative based learning

  1. Tempo of learning

Every individual is different from the other. Every person has a pace of learning and understanding. This is one of the drawbacks of collaborative-based learning. It might be challenging to catch up or go with everyone’s tempo, especially on a deadline-based project.

2. Comfort of others

Not all individuals are comfortable in a group environment. It might be challenging to be accepted or take a while to put forth ideas when there are no familiar faces in the group. It might take time for white people to open up with others. It is necessary to bring everyone in front rather than letting them stay back in collaborative-based learning.

3.Indifferences in a group

Everyone has a different way of thinking. It is difficult to get along when ideas clash. Conflicts may occur when there is a difference of opinion. It is necessary to set ego aside and work together as a whole. It is important to give others a chance to put forth their ideas and accept them.

It is important to learn together and from each other. It encourages togetherness and speeds the way of learning. Given the drawbacks, one must figure out ways. As students, collaborative-based learning helps in the corporate world. And as an individual, it helps to adjust to the environment we live in. At NullClass we strive to help students understand the true value of education through projects.
