What is industrial training and why is it important?

If you are searching for a job or an internship you must have come across this question “how many months/years of experience do you have in this field?” Or generally “do you have any professional experience in any field?”

So what exactly is this Industry experience and why do businesses expect experience from freshers when they haven’t even got any chance to work yet. Let’s find out in this blog.

Firstly to answer your question what is industrial training? So in simple terms it is application of students’ theoretical knowledge to practical use on real time projects going on in a real industry.

The objective of this training is to give students exposure to a real life working environment and show them how they can put theoretical knowledge to use.

Why is industrial training Important?

There is a huge gap between the college  and professional world. Whenever you go out for a job you will be expected to have certain skills in work ethic, communication, management etc to bridge this gap students are made to go under industrial training. Where they get to experience what their professional life will be like.

Even if you may have good practical knowledge but you lack in certain areas like communication, management and work ethics, it will leave a bad impression on the employer.

Industrial training is also an opportunity for students to get a job offer.

How do you get industrial training?

Now you may ask, how can an employer expect you to have experience when you never got any chance to work? Yes, it is absolutely fair to say so but when it comes to a business they cannot afford to train an employee sometimes. They prefer people who will deliver results without asking many questions. Think of it in terms of their perspective.

Most engineering colleges have this integrated industrial training program in their course which students have to go through, but if you are not a student from a professional course and industry training or internship is not part of your curriculum then where do you look for this experience to add in your resume?

Well fear not we have some tips to help you

  • You can look for internships or part-time jobs on job portals which are hiring freshers or students.
  • Try to enroll in real time projects like nullclass.
  • Join programs like TCS YEP.
  • Try to work for free in startups or other companies.
  • Work on your own project.

Put yourself out there to gain experience in skills you want to make a career in. In the end the world will teach you greater lessons than your college. The earlier you start the better it is. Industry training is just a way to give students exposure to the working environment and get them familiarized with technologies being used in industries. It is important so that you don’t get overwhelmed when you start working.

  2. Today, I went to the beach front with my kids. I found a sea shell and gave it to my 4 year old daughter and said "You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear." She put the shell to her ear and screamed. There was a hermit crab inside and it pinched her ear. She never wants to go back! LoL I know this is totally off topic but I had to tell someone!
